Former Reds’ midfielder Paul Pogba has picked up three points in Manchester after being caught speeding in his BMW.

The 19-year-old, who now plays for Italians Juventus, was clocked doing 50mph in a 30mph zone on Hyde Road in Gorton in April.

He did not appear at Manchester magistrates’ court but was fined £400, hit with three penalty points and ordered to pay £45 costs. Pogba departed Old Trafford in acrimonious circumstances at the end of last season when he refused to sign a new contract.

Pogba is the latest footballer connected with one of the two Manchester clubs to be convicted of a driving

offence.

In September the M.E.N. printed a ‘rogue XI’ which included City’s Michael Johnson, who was banned from the roads for three years for crashing his car while unfit to drive through drink.  He was on bail for drink-driving at the time.

United and England striker Danny Welbeck also made the line-up when he was fined after he was caught doing 82mph along the 50mph Princess Parkway.

Since then, Reds’ veteran defender Rio Ferdinand has been banned after he was caught speeding three times on the same stretch of road in the space of six weeks.

And Carlos Tevez, who is due before Morecambe magistrates for an alleged speeding offence on Monday, had to watch as police seized his new Porsche Panamera earlier this month.

He failed to produce the correct documents after being stopped by officers and had to catch a lift home.

Tevez, 28, referenced the incident by mimicking driving a car when celebrating both of his two goals in the Blues’ 5-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
