The new Lamborghini Aventador Roadster

13 November 2012

Lamborghini has revealed the new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster - the "most exciting series production Lamborghini ever built".

The exterior design of the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster features new geometric lines that extend from the removable roof to the engine hood.  It comes with a removable, two-piece carbon fibre roof that incorporates several techniques, including RTM and Forged Composite.

Each piece of the roof weighs less than 6 kg and both can be stored in the front luggage compartment.

To accommodate the roof, the rear pillar of the Aventador Roadster was redesigned to incorporate an automatic protection system for passengers and ventilation for the engine.

Also new to the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster are a re-styled engine hood with a central "spinal column" and two pairs of hexagonal windows.

The Aventador Roadster is powered by the same 6.5-litre V12 engine as the coupe, giving an output of 700 HP (515 kW) at 8.250 rpm and 690 Nm at 5.500 rpm. As with the coupe, the roadster comes with an ISR 7-speed transmission and a push-rod suspension.

The Aventador roadster sprints 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.0 seconds and has a top speed of 350 km/h, whilst the coupe moves from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds with the same top speed.

To increase the efficiency of such a large and powerful engine, Lambo equipped it with an instant Stop & Start system.

The Aventador Roadster comes with a two-tone exterior finish that creates the effect of a completely open vehicle. The interior features Sabbia Nefertem leather and a hand-made upholstery.

The car sits on new Dione 20”/21” aluminum rims that lower this stunning supercar's weight by 10 Kg.

The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster's price has been set to 300,000 EUR, excluding taxes.
